Where Kyudo and the Japanese Language Meet

放つ矢、放つことば

From March 22, 2026, I conducted a workshop themed around “Kyudo and Language” during a week-long Kyudo seminar held at South Carolina Kyudo Dojo.

Through the concepts of kai (会) and zanshin (残心) in Kyudo, the workshop explored Japanese perspectives on listening, silence, and presence, inviting participants to reflect on the connection between language, body awareness, and the state of the heart and mind.

Participants shared reflections such as:

🌱 their understanding of Kyudo had deepened and shifted,

🌱 they became more conscious of what it truly means to “listen,”

🌱 and the workshop influenced the way they communicate and engage in daily life.

During the workshop, some participants were deeply moved to tears, and the space became filled with quiet reflection and meaningful dialogue.
